Grade EN24
EN24 steel is a premium-grade nickel–chromium–molybdenum alloy steel known for its exceptional strength, toughness, and fatigue resistance. It is widely used in critical engineering applications where components are subjected to heavy loads, shock, torsional stress, and cyclic fatigue. Compared to EN19, EN24 offers higher strength and improved toughness, making it suitable for more demanding environments.
Typically supplied in the quenched and tempered (Q&T) condition, EN24 achieves very high mechanical properties, including tensile strength ranging from 850 to 1200 MPa. Its ability to maintain strength and toughness even in larger cross-sections makes it ideal for heavy-duty shafts, gears, and industrial machinery components.
One of the key advantages of EN24 is its excellent hardenability, allowing it to be induction hardened for surface hardness up to 55–60 HRC while maintaining a tough core. The presence of nickel, chromium, and molybdenum enhances wear resistance, fatigue strength, and impact toughness, ensuring long service life in demanding conditions.
Due to its superior mechanical performance, EN24 is widely used across industries such as automotive, aerospace, defense, mining, and oil & gas. It is the preferred material for high-load components where reliability, durability, and strength are critical.
Key Properties
- Very High Tensile Strength: Achieves 850–1200 MPa in Q&T condition with hardness of 30–40 HRC.
